Bing And Its Rewards

Bing And Its Rewards

Bing.com and what it can do for you! (Review and the Fluff) *Easy Mode

What is Bing.com

Bing.com is no stranger to many people. Bing.com is a search engine hosted by Microsoft with direct competition with leaders of the search industry like Google.com. Without going into to much details, in short, Bing.com is just another leading search engine.

What makes Bing.com Different?

Phone version of Bing.com
Similarities: The nifty thing about Bing.com is that it shares a lot of common features as any other leading search engine such as your standard typed in search and now, a more popular feature; voice search.

Allows photo search: Bing.com uniquely allows you to search for something by using a photo with your phone's camera or even an image to use from your computer (drag and drop is allowed!). This photo search feature works pretty well from my experience and is great for on the go. It's great to use this photo search feature on the phone so you can identify pretty much anything around you. From cars, bugs, animals, and plants this makes this a very useful tool for research and curiosity.
Bing.com news and image of the day on a browser
News headlines and image of the day: An additional plus to using this search engine is that it has news headlines on the bottom of the page and always has a new and interesting background. If you scroll down on the homepage of Bing.com it tells you all the information you need to know about the background which to feed your curiosity. As for the news headlines, they're brief, visual, and scroll from right to left. You can find out more about each if you click on them. The engine will initiate an automatic search about that headline.

Unique censoring: I won't share an image of this but please take my word for it. Unlike most search engines there isn't too many censoring in what you search for without going deeply into your search engine settings or browser settings. Bing.com automatically sets parental or censorship settings for the protection of the user. They don't seem to take any chances as they blur out the image or contents.
Bing.com Rewards points

Rewards program: Most importantly, at least in my book, is the ability to earn points for searching  the internet and answering easy quizzes (easy because you have unlimited guesses). These point can be used towards sweepstakes, gift cards from popular vendors, items, or even subscriptions.

The catch to the rewards: There is only really two catches to earn these rewards.
  1. You'll need to sign up with the rewards program and log in
  2. You'll need to use Bing.com to search for things daily

About the rewards program

So to start, this isn't a get rich quick sort of thing and you won't be getting "real" money (I don't count gift cards as actual currency). It is however really easy and quick to get points to redeem prizes.

How it works: For every search and every quiz you gain points. You can earn separate points from searches from a browser other than Microsoft's browser (edge), earn points from using Microsoft Edge, and earn points from using your cell phone. You can also earn points by answering short quizzes you can't loose at or completing small, non invasive tasks.
Example of dashboard and prizes
Once you've accumulated enough points, you can redeem them at your Bing Rewards dashboard. You can reach the dashboard by clicking on the following link and clicking on redeem: Bing Rewards Dashboard

Once you selected a reward its as easy as a click away. Some of the popular gift cards would be from Amazon.com, Microsoft.com, and Walmart. These are of course examples and do shift around periodically.

Downside of Bing.com and its rewards

I can't say there is too many downsides to this search engine but I will cover some of the downers in bullet points.
  • The automatic censoring of content as well how strict it is can be pretty annoying for some
  • The image search feature can require cropping several times before it gets the search right and/or conclusive
  • Sometimes the news headlines are a bit silly BUT news in general can be a little silly. They tend to sound like "the sims" or "sim city" headlines
  • The rewards from the rewards programs can shift pretty fast. For example, you may see Amazon.com gift cards available one day and gone the next.
  • Microsoft can target specific people to be allowed specific reward redemptions. For example I had a friend who constantly had a gift card I wanted and I rarely had the option available to me, on the same day.

So you decided you want the short version huh? That's ok, I don't blame you :-)
