Wish App Review

About this post

Synopsis: Wish or Wish.com is a shopping app much like E-bay or Amazon.
Difficulty: Easy-ish
Safe?: Yes
Cost: Free with in-app/online purchase
Platforms: PC, Android, IOS
My Suggestion: You can expect to get disappointed unless you have a lot of patience.

The Fluff (Skip to Pros and Cons

About Wish/Wish.com: So, wish is an app/website that allows you to buy things possibly insanely cheap. Discounts can range between 30% up to 99%, or so is advertised.

In regards to placing an order, it simple! You link your bank account, card , or Paypal account then click on an item you are interested in. Click the final confirmation and your done.

Sounds Simple Enough, But Is It Safe?: In short, the app is safe. It's been around for quite some time (2010). It is a legitimate company that works similarly to Amazon.com. My personal experience is positive when it comes down to refunds and purchases. Also, the app has not yielded any malware, viruses, or fraud.

Does Wish Cost Anything: It does not cost anything to use the app or website but of course, it is a shopping app, and the point of it is to spend money. Thus far, out of Amazon.com and E-bay, you will be spending a lot less on items. This is not a bidding site and everything is in the fashion of "buy-it-now".

Do I Get What I Pay For?: With Wish, you need to keep an open mind. A lot of items are knock-offs or low quality items however, for the price that is being paid, this isn't 100% a bad thing. Besides, your browsing on there to save money!

Some of the things I've received on Wish like cosmetics all the way up to a smart watch have worked out fine for me and hey don't have any issues with them despite the price I paid.

Beware however, the prices advertised may sound too good to be true. That is probably because they are too good to be true. If an expensive item is 75% off or more, you will have a pretty small chance of actually receiving or "winning" that item. If an item is small enough or seems low price to begin with (without the Wish coupon), then chances are you will be fine and receive or "win" that item. If your wanting to buy something that is $300 and its 99% off where the price is now $0.50 then there is a super high chance you won't get it so don't be too disappointed. Even if you don't receive or "win" the item, Wish will at least refund you in full.

Free items!!!
There Are Free Items: Yes, its true. There is a section that advertised free items. If you decide to purchase these, the only thing you will need to pay is shipping (that's how they get ya :-p). It is however not bad and they do have some interesting small items for free. This feature works more often than the 99% off coupons/offers.

Rewards!!!
Wish Has A Rewards Program: From daily log-in to a few small tasks, you will receive reward points. These points can go toward further discounts/coupons.

Flexible Payment Methods: If you are cautious they provide options to pay/register with Paypal or if you want a more direct route you can submit your credit care information.

Pros:

  • Free to use
  • Possibility of getting something really nice for really cheap
  • Easy to use
  • Lower prices than most sites/apps
  • There are some free-ish items
  • Easy to use interface
  • Referral program
  • Rewards programs

Cons:

  • Sadly, you have a chance of not being able to receive or win an item.
  • Lots of low quality
  • Lots of "knock-off" items

My Suggestion: I'm in-between wanting to uninstall it. To be honest, I'm pretty thrifty and I'm not receiving or "winning" the items I've spent a lot of time browsing for. Although a few purchases have been promising, its a little bit of a hassle to purchase and then go through the refund process.

If you are a lot more patient than I am however, give it a shot, it's free, flexible, and may work out well for you!
