Make Money While You Walk?

Still recovering from that thanksgiving feast? Need a plan for that all day course meal on Christmas? Maybe some incentive could help!
Many apps out there will tell you or advertise with videos that you'll get
paid to do nothing but a simple walk in the park, but is it true? Is it even
possible? Is it really possible to make some extra cash idly while walking,
jogging, running, or anything that involves these types of exercises? What if
I told you yes??? Exciting right? I'll give you the truth for the average Joe
like myself and before I get started on this post I'll give you the short
answer: Is it possible? ...sort of!
Lets start with the good news (skip to easy outline?)
With these types of apps you will be rewarded 100% of the time if you follow
through to the very end. This does not necessarily mean with
money. I start with this because you are looking for encouragement to get healthy and take care of yourself. If an app does this for you, I encourage it. Some of what I'm about to tell you may turn you away from this idea. As most of these types of apps are free, it can't hurt to try them.

As for the money earned from apps like these, that is a different story. You
MAY receive money, gift cards, discounts, promotions, or ...just a good
feeling of working out for the day 😜.
The ambiguity of these apps

What you actually get! Here's my short App reviews!
What better way to tell you what you get and how an app is, without a little
review? I've searched around, read up on a few apps, and tried them out. Out
of the top 5 I've picked the two I feel are the best and one that lurked in
the shadows of google play just to throw in an oddball. This is what I got
from best to worst in my opinion
1. Sweatcoin
sweatco.in |
Graphics: Pretty cool looking interface.
Difficulty: Pretty easy! All you really need to do is the
initial set up and leave your GPS on so it can track your steps.
Conveniently it has little tabs on the bottom to help you navigate to
exercise caps, rewards, bonuses and more. It does not require a separate
app or device to function.
Battery: It consumes quite a bit, but not as much as the next two
I'm about to review. The app does run in the background and relies on your
internet connection and GPS, so it isn't really too big a surprise it'll
dry up your battery a little.
What do I get and how do I get it?: This app rewards you in points
or in their words, conveniently ...sweat coins. The app caps you for steps
taken per day with different "plans" that cost monthly sweat coins but
increase the overall cap.
You get sweat coins by walking, running, jogging, or really anything that
requires some distance. You can also attain sweat coins by clicking on
daily rewards and advertisements.
Show me the money?: The main prize you get from these coins are
discounts off promotional items. This could be subscriptions, shavers,
tooth brushes, tea, and more. Primarily healthy stuff. There are limited
offers for cash if you get other people to sign up or if you get the top
prizes which translate to free phones and PayPal gift cards.
Realism about getting anything from this app: Very real! If you
want promotional items for cheap then it is quick prizes. If you want 100%
free items or money...you'll need to run a few marathons in a few years OR
have a whole lot of friends willing to sign up.
If making the buck isn't fast enough for you in this app, there are
options to donate to a wide variety of charities.
Recommended?: Yes. I enjoy seeing the offers, it's light-ish
when it comes down to resource usage on the phone, and you hardly notice
it is there. A true "idle" app that can potentially earn you something.

2. Achievement
MyAchievement.com |
Cost: Free.
Graphics: Interface is pretty simple. Nothing too fancy
which is nice because it loads fast.
Difficulty: Average difficulty. The bad thing about
this app is unlike Sweatcoin, it requires that you download a
separate popular app to track steps. This means you have to open
the linked app, open achievement, and let them both run. Other
than setting up your daily tracking, the app is pretty self
explanatory.
Battery: Vampire! This sucks up a lot of your
battery's life force. Mainly, because you're constantly running
two apps that rely on your internet and GPS.
What do I get and how do I get it?: You earn
points from steps. You can also gain points from friend referrals
and from questionnaires, or as they would call it, "offers", about
your health and life.
Show me the money?: For every 10,000 points earned you
can trade them in to help a charity or to get a PayPal gift card.
Realism about getting anything from this app: Very
real! There is a huge BUT in this, though. It takes a very long
time to reach the 10,000. If you forget to run the partnered
tracking app, then you lose those points for the day. Some days
won't even have an "offer" to get points. So, the earnings are
slow but can be lightly lucrative in the very long run.
Recommended?: Eeeeehhh, I'm kind of 50/50 on this one. I've
had it for over a year and I've only gained about 2,600 points. Also, it
is just too much work. Having to run multiple apps can really bog things
down and suck up resources.

3. Step Younger+
stepyounger.com |
Cost: Free
Graphics: Too much going on.
Difficulty: Hard. The app is hard to use because there
is a lot to do, a lot going on, and a lot of pop-up ads. This can
be confusing and is a great deal of work.
Battery: Sadly, another vampire. While it is sucking
up your juice from internet and GPS usage, it is also feeding you
a bunch of activities and promotions through your push
notifications.
What do I get and how do I get it?: You get
points they call "energy". You can get points by converting steps,
playing random chance games in which you spend energy, and from
ads. An ABUNDANCE of ads! ðŸ˜
Show me the money?: Aside from a lottery of possible
gift cards for up to $50.00. The main goal is a $10 PayPal
transfer through activities and steps.
Realism about getting anything from this app: The app gives
you a feeling that you're going to win it big. The reason I
downloaded this app is that it was a "too good to be true", walk
in the park, and get rich by the time you hit the liquor store for
some snacks. Literally!
For the gift cards, you collect all but 1 puzzle piece until it resets
days later. The step counter is the worst though. Cashing in steps and
energy for real money starts off with you getting $0.30 to $1.00 per
cash-in but, when you get to about $9.00, each cash-in will be $0.006
per. So, it is kind of like gambling where you may win big and it ropes
you in by winning a little which seems like a lot. 😢
Recommended?: Nope. Don't waste your battery or your time.
It tugs at you and to be very honest, could create a gambling problem
type of atmosphere.
Use my referral: To save you from this app, I'm not going to
recommend or refer to you. Sorry.
Long story short

All-in-all, there is something to be obtained from these apps. They are
not a get rich quick, but at least, they are pretty much something for
nothing. At the very least, you've created some incentive to be active and
take better care of yourself. Maybe even develop some SICK CALVES!
The moment you've been waiting for. The easy outline. (To Top)
- The good news. You will get something out of these apps. Whether it be positive encouragement, gift cards, or cash, you can and will get something if you keep at it.
- These apps can be ambiguous. There are a lot of promises from rags to riches, but in all truth, it is a slow process to get pocket money.
Best way to tell you about each are reviews
- Sweatcoin: This app allows you to pretty much set it and forget it. Steps translate to coins (points) that can be used toward promotional items or eventually cash (in the very long haul). If you get tired of the app, you can always donate your points to charity! 😉 (Read up on it?)
- Achievement: This app works similar to Sweatcoin with the exception that it requires secondary app to track steps and give points. Because of the use of two apps this can be a battery vampire. Also, points are limited to only cash and only after a goal set by the app. 😑 (Read up on it?)
- Step Younger+: This app baits you into thinking your going to go from rags to riches in a single walk in the park. It is loaded with ads and once you hit a specific dollar amount you are gaining fractions of a penny. There are many opportunities for gift cards and cash outs only if you are lucky. It's gamble. The ads and constant notifications are a bummer and drain your phone battery to its end. 😠(Read up on it?)
